The Canada Uganda EMS Society is accepting volunteer applications for Phase 2 of the Uganda EMS Pilot Project from February 1 to March 2, 2019 in Kampala, Uganda.This phase will involve teaching two groups of students: one to a basic First Response level, and one to an EMR level. There are up to six positions available for suitable candidates who are able to commit up to 30 days of volunteer time outside of Canada

Note: This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity. Volunteers will be responsible for the cost of their own airfare, lodging, and food during the program. Estimated personal cost is 3000-3500 CAD.

Key Responsibilities:
Volunteers will work as a team to:

• Develop, prepare, and adapt EMS training materials
• Train students using a variety of instruction methods
• Assess student knowledge and skills according to established learning outcomes

Required:

• Emergency Medical Services or equivalent training
• Emergency Medical Services or equivalent experience
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Experience working with a team in circumstances that vary unexpectedly

Assets:

• CPR trainer certification
• Experience working in developing countries
• Experience working in cross-cultural contexts
• Experience or training in adult education
• Photography and/or videography experience and equipment
• Experience maintaining a blog or active social media presence

Travel Requirements:

The following documents are not required upon application but must be obtained before travel.

• Passport valid for at least six months beyond travel date
• Ugandan visa
• Criminal record check (required for visa)
• Yellow Fever vaccination certificate (required for visa)
