People of CUES

Hello all,

I know it’s been a while, but we hope everyone is staying safe and healthy out there! To brighten up your news feeds we are bringing you our very first HUMANS OF CUES Student Feature. Nyabos and ssebos, meet Gregory!

“Hello! My name is Rwothomio Gregory. I was born and raised in Kawempe, Kampala. I am an optimist who loves helping and caring for people and other animals. I enjoy a variety of both indoor and outdoor activities including, music, art, reading, long forest walks, nature and site seeing.

After completing my high school in 2013, I learned of a first aid volunteer training from Timothy Walsh and signed up for it with great enthusiasm. I completed the basic class training in 2018. I have had an amazing life changing experience that has taught me a lot during my one year of being a first aid responder and has made me even more passionate about caring for the sick and injured. That is why I have considered taking on being an Emergency Medical Responder as a profession and to also earn a living. I am glad to be part of the advanced class of 2020 with Canada Uganda EMS Society. I hope to attain higher levels of education in pre-hospital care in the near future.”

-Gregory

Gregory is an extremely dedicated CUES student. He did not miss a single session of Phase 3, arriving early for the morning class to help with set up prior to the arrival of students and instructors. He has been integral to the beginner course instruction, facilitating small group activities and stepping up to conduct full lectures on multiple occasions. Gregory has shown an in-depth understanding of the course materials, asking thought provoking questions in class and going above and beyond with his own research on emergency first response topics. Gregory is extremely passionate about bettering his community and has proven to be an exemplar role model to other students. We foresee he will be taking on a foundational leadership role in the future of Liberty Emergency Care Collaborative (LECC). Keep up the amazing work Gregory!

We Hope you all enjoyed this bio on one of our amazing students, stay tuned, there will be plenty more to come.

Have an amazing day!
